The 2019 NFDA International Convention and Expo in Chicago was unforgettable experience, and we're grateful for everyone who joined us in Chicago (or followed along with our social media coverage) for an experience full of learning, networking and sharing resources to help grow your funeral business and better serve families.
Homesteaders and eFuneral were proud to be the exclusive Black Diamond Sponsors for this event, helping the NFDA bring two outstanding keynote speakers to share their insights with funeral and allied professionals. In case you haven’t had a chance to catch up on all of the convention highlights, here are a few of our favorite moments.
Marketing Wisdom from Seth Godin
During the first general session, bestselling author Seth Godin delivered insights on how funeral professionals can establish meaningful relationships with the people you serve. "Each one of you is in the community," Godin told the audience during his keynote presentation. "We are more disconnected and more lonely than ever before, and you are in the community. And the community is waiting for you to show up and connect them."
After his presentation, Godin visited the Homesteaders booth to greet attendees and sign copies of his latest book, This Is Marketing. In the book, Godin shares what business professionals need to know about becoming and staying relevant for the people they serve. Innovation at the Expo
Our team was on hand to share the latest news from Homesteaders and to help set up live demos of eFuneral, the groundbreaking digital sales and lead generation platform. eFuneral, a subsidiary of Homesteaders, offers a unique solution that uses your funeral home’s existing website to seamlessly attract, convert and close preneed and at-need sales. The platform maximizes market share by connecting funeral providers with consumers who are already comfortable making purchases online.

Stories of Honor from Ethan Morse
Filmmaker, U.S. Army Veteran and Tomb Guard Sentinel Ethan Morse shared stories of honor, duty and sacrifice during his keynote presentation. He detailed behind-the-scenes experiences from his new documentary series, Honor Guard, which is scheduled for release later this year.
Morse also signed DVDs of his award-winning 2016 documentary, The Unknowns, at the Homesteaders booth. "I really have an affinity towards the mission of funeral directors," Morse said. "Our mission is the same - to bring honor to those who have passed away." Read about Morse's experiences serving at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and about his work as a documentary filmmaker here.
