Fall is almost officially here – and that means it’s also almost time for the 2018 NFDA International Convention and Expo, one of the biggest funeral service events of the year. The Homesteaders team is working hard to make this our best year at the convention yet, with Finding Resilience resources, live social media discussion panels and much more. (Watch the Homesteaders Blog and our Facebook page for more details in the coming weeks!)

In the midst of preparing for our time in Salt Lake City, we’re sharing a few of the opportunities we think you’ll enjoy at the convention. Don’t see the event you’re anticipating in this list? Be sure to share it in the comments below.

Get inspired.

NFDA convention attendees have access to the world’s largest funeral service expo – an excellent place to get new ideas for products and services that can help differentiate your firm. You’ll see the latest memorialization products and be able to take note of industry trends. For example, firms are discovering the benefits of therapy dogs to help grieving families – and you can interact with therapy dogs yourself at the new “Pause with Paws” feature at the Expo.

The Homesteaders team will be at Booth 1613 – don’t forget to stop by and see us there. We’re looking forward to showing you our innovative solutions that help you better serve your client families and grow your business.

Expo Hours:

  • Monday, Oct. 15: 12 – 5 p.m.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 16: 12 – 5 p.m.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 17: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Develop your skills.

Devoting time to professional development can have tremendous benefits for you, your business and your client families. There’s no shortage of educational opportunities at the NFDA convention, including world-renowned keynote speakers and many outstanding workshops.

Want to learn more about specialized topics in a relaxed setting? Check out the NFDA Campfire Exchange sessions at Booth 125. Find out how to expand your community outreach with Youth and Funerals resources, get ideas for earning pre-need leads on social media and much more.

Be recognized.

The convention is also about celebrating you – your dedication, your successes and the important work you do to serve families during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Homesteaders is proud to sponsor this year’s All-Star Recognition Ceremony, an event that honors exceptional people who go above and beyond in the profession.

Among the many exceptional award recipients will be the 2018 Pursuit of Excellence Award winners, a group of elite funeral homes honored for adhering to the highest service standards. The 2018 recipients were recently announced – visit the NFDA website to see the list of honorees.

Extend your network.

One of the most rewarding parts of the convention is the opportunity to connect with others who share your dedication to funeral service. You’ll have many chances to get to know other professionals and share experiences at special events throughout the convention. Join colleagues to relax at the film festival-inspired Welcome Party, or make a difference through activities such as the Habitat for Humanity build or the Foundation Golf Classic.
