West Des Moines, Iowa — Homesteaders Life Company, a national leader in prearranged funeral funding, has partnered with Drake University to again present its Certificate in Strategic Business Management course for funeral professionals. The three-day classroom experience will be held September 13-15 on Drake’s campus in Des Moines.
“As funeral home owners, oftentimes it’s difficult to work on your business because we’re so tied up working in the business,” explained Jeremy DeBord, owner and funeral director at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home in Lancaster, PA, and graduate of the 2015 Strategic Business Management course. “Having the chance to bounce ideas off of non-competitors and learn from the great instructor was really beneficial.”
The faculty of Drake’s College of Business and Public Administration consulted with members of Homesteaders’ financial, marketing and operations leadership to develop a course addressing the unique and evolving business opportunities and challenges in the funeral profession. Attendees will gain experience from case studies and interactive, application-oriented learning exercises.
“We believe strongly in the value of providing education opportunities that will help develop the skills of innovative, successful leaders within the funeral profession,” said Homesteaders Executive VP-HR & Administration Judy Ralston-Hansen. “This course will offer strategies and best practices to help funeral professionals take the next steps to generate meaningful results for their firms.”
Homesteaders is offering a limited number of discounted rates for early registrants: Firms that enroll two funeral professionals will only pay the cost of one registration. All individuals who register before September 2 will receive a $50 discount.Homesteaders Life Company is a national leader providing life insurance products and services to promote and support the funding of advance funeral planning and end-of-life expenses.
