Celebrating partnerships that make an impact.

Welcome to the Homesteaders Blog. > Celebrating partnerships that make an impact.

Each year, Customer Appreciation Day gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect on the meaningful partnerships we share with funeral professionals across the country. At Homesteaders, we are honored to work alongside individuals and teams who show up for families with compassion, empathy and dedication during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Honoring funeral professionals who make a difference.

This year, Customer Appreciation Day also marks the introduction of the Homesteaders Impact Awards — a new way to recognize funeral professionals and partners whose dedication goes above and beyond.

Created to honor funeral providers who exemplify compassion, service and community leadership, the Impact Awards recognize funeral professionals making a lasting difference — not only for the families they serve, but for their employees, communities and the profession as a whole.

This year’s recipients were nominated by Homesteaders employees who have witnessed firsthand the care, innovation and leadership these professionals bring to their work every day.

Meaningful Community Impact Award: Jon Leavitt, Leavitt Funeral Service

Jon Leavitt and the team at Leavitt Funeral Service demonstrate what it means to support families beyond the funeral service itself. Their commitment to grief care and ongoing connection has created a lasting impact throughout their community.

Each quarter, the funeral home hosts free grief support meetings that provide families with a safe and supportive environment for healing. Families also receive personalized grief support resources, including guides, remembrance ideas and materials designed to offer comfort long after services conclude.

During the holiday season, Leavitt Funeral Service continues that commitment through its annual Service of Remembrance, where families gather to honor loved ones and receive personalized memorial ornaments in tribute to those they have lost.

Through compassionate outreach and meaningful support, Jon and his team embody the spirit of community impact and care.

Outstanding Partnership Award: Julie Williams, Milestone Funeral Partners

Julie Williams is known for bringing out the best in those around her — from her team and funeral home partners to the families ultimately served through her work.

As Sales Manager for Milestone Funeral Partners, Julie has built a culture centered on collaboration, innovation and service. Her leadership is rooted in asking “what’s possible?” while keeping the family experience at the heart of every decision.

Most recently, Julie played a key role in helping launch Your Journey Forward, Homesteaders’ aftercare program designed to support families beyond the funeral experience. Her commitment to helping funeral homes embrace new ways to care for families reflects both visionary leadership and deep partnership.

Julie’s passion for the profession and dedication to those she serves make her a deserving recipient of the Outstanding Partnership award.

Legacy of Service Award: Tim Dunn, Dunn Funeral Home

For nearly four decades, Tim Dunn has dedicated his life to serving families with compassion, professionalism and unwavering care.

Tim has built a reputation not only as a respected funeral director, but as a deeply involved community leader. His service extends far beyond the funeral home through his involvement with local organizations, churches, youth programs and charitable initiatives.

Tim’s impact can also be seen in the generations of funeral professionals he has inspired — including members of his own family who have continued the tradition of service within the profession.

Those who know Tim describe him as someone who is always in “caretaker mode,” bringing kindness, humility and genuine compassion to every interaction. His lifelong commitment to serving others makes him a fitting recipient of the Legacy of Service award.

Celebrating the people behind the profession.

We are grateful to all of our funeral home partners for the trust they place in Homesteaders and for the care they provide families every day. The stories shared through the Homesteaders Impact Awards are just a few examples of the meaningful work happening across the profession.

Customer Appreciation Day may last one day, but our appreciation for the funeral professionals we serve extends far beyond it.
